Most business training asks you to take theory on faith. You sit through frameworks built in a classroom, take notes on ideas that have never been tested against a real payroll, a real job site, or a real customer — then try to translate them into a business that behaves nothing like the example. AHS Academy was built to do the opposite.

AHS Academy is the professional training division of Action Home Services (AHS), a premium landscape design–build company serving the Greater Toronto Area. Every program is drawn from the real systems, processes, and hard-won lessons that grew AHS from a one-person start-up into a multi-million-dollar, multi-department organization. This is operational knowledge — not classroom theory — delivered by the practitioners who use it to run the business every day.

Participants don’t just learn concepts. They leave with the templates, checklists, standards, and working systems they can implement in their own businesses immediately.

Operational Knowledge, Not Classroom Theory

The difference between AHS Academy and a conventional course is simple: everything taught here is already running a real company. The frameworks are not hypothetical best practices — they are the standard operating procedures, scorecards, and playbooks that AHS depends on every day to sell work, price it for profit, manage crews, and deliver projects to a 10-year workmanship standard.

Because the material is battle-tested, it comes with the artifacts that make it usable. Instead of leaving with a notebook of ideas, participants leave with the actual templates, checklists, standards, and systems — the same ones AHS uses — ready to adapt to their own business. That is the promise of the Academy: you don’t just understand how a high-performing service and construction company works; you walk out able to build one.

Led by John Karpov — Founder, President & CEO

company ahs 1

AHS Academy is led by John Karpov, Founder, President, CEO, and Owner of Action Home Services — and his story is the foundation the Academy is built on. John started AHS at just 17, shortly after immigrating to Canada with no established network, and grew it from a true one-person operation — where he was simultaneously the salesperson, project manager, logistics coordinator, and administrator — into a structured, systems-driven company that has scaled at roughly 70–90% year over year.

That growth was engineered, not accidental. A Canadian college Project Management graduate, John built AHS on a foundation of documented, teachable processes: a library of more than 1,000 standard operating procedures (roughly 300 for the sales team alone), a 500-page project-management manual refined over four years, and company-wide KPIs, scorecards, and open-book financial reporting. Turning the way a business actually works into something that can be trained and duplicated is his defining strength — and it is exactly what AHS Academy delivers to others.

Training has been central to how John operates for years. AHS runs mandatory daily sales training, daily team coaching calls, structured multi-week onboarding with per-chapter testing, and monthly ride-along coaching between job sites. Over the past three years alone, he has invested roughly $1.5 million in professional development and attended more than 100 conferences and seminars, bringing 20+ team members and managers with him.

Under his leadership, AHS has earned a strong reputation across the GTA industry: 58+ industry awards — including 21 Landscape Ontario, 13 HomeStars, and 25 Pool & Spa Industry awards — a 10-year workmanship warranty, and a 12,000 sq. ft. design centre. AHS Academy exists to package the exact playbook behind that reputation and make it teachable to owners, leaders, and professionals who want to build something that lasts.

A Proven Training Track Record

Training is not new to AHS — it is how the company was built. For more than two years, AHS Academy has delivered structured, practitioner-led training programs, formalizing a culture of professional development long embedded in the business through daily training, extensive SOPs, and continuous coaching.

Every course is grounded in real project experience and battle-tested systems, and every instructor is an active AHS practitioner — not an outside consultant or academic. Mornings cover the frameworks and concepts; afternoons put them straight to work through hands-on labs, workshops, and real AHS case studies, so participants leave able to do the work, not just describe it.
